The blessing of Herbs

Herbs are wonderful gifts from our creator/evolutionary process!!! In this blog I will talk about a few herbs I know and often recommend.

I begin with Ginger.Ginger!GINGER (Zangiber officinale): Chinese have been using Ginger for well over 2000 years. Japanese serve Ginger slices between Sushi courses to aid in digestion. It sems that from research by Dr. Leung, an expert in Chinese medicine, that " the juice of fresh, crushed Gingerroot is an excellent treatment for minor burns and skin inflammations."Ginger also helps ease cold symptoms, and is a good remedy for "morning sickness". ( In case you knocked up your girlfriend and need to calm her down. It's really good overall for general stomach aches. Remember when a kid and you had an upset stomach...what'd your mom give you? Ginger Ale... Problem was, it was an artificial ginger flavor most of us got, not the real good, spicy, makes my chicken taste so good kinda ginger.

Next the herb that comes to my mind is known as Tulsi in IndiaTulsi, belongs to the family of plants called Basil. It's indeed a wonderful herb. Many Hindus in fact worshiop it, it is the plant that is grown in the backyard, and worshiooed every morning. It has many medicinal properties too.

Another herb I find very interesting goes by the name Pudina, in Sanskrit. We use it often in our home to make a green chuteney (sauce). I was facing some difficulty in recalling its english equivalent, hence googled on it, and found it is called mint. It belongs to the same family of herbs to which peppermint belongs. I also discovered a link that gives very useful information about its medicinal properties.
